I will be honest: I have never fallen in love with orange juilius smoothies, but I have certainly had them before, and they are perty good. They are like a liquid orange creamcicle. And I can definitely dig that.
I first made this orange julius as a way to incorporate more fruits into my smoothies. My favorite smoothie flavors have always been the richer, sugary types, like chocolate and peanut butter. When I usually make smoothies, I make a chocolate or nut butter one and then make Mitchy a fruity smoothie because he prefers those ones. But I have been trying to get on board with Mitch so that I can get some more nutrients and fun flavors into my diet.
I was eating quite a few strawberry banana smoothies, so after a few days of those for breakfast, I was like “Anything else?”
So I decided to try orange! Oranges might be my favorite fruit, so I thought they might make one of my favorite smoothie flavors too.
As soon as Mitch tried it, he said, “Oh my gosh! It’s an orange julius!” and so this beautiful brilliant recipe was solidified and shared with the world.
Let me know if you try the recipe out, and then let me know what you think about it. If you have been craving an orange julius substitute after going vegan or raw, I hope this satisfies your craving.
